WPTV Reported by Xumin Zhou ： “A Conversation with Irina Bokova” was held on April 21st at Institute of International Education, United Nations Plaza. Irina Bokova, current Director-General of UNESCO and the leading female candidate for UN Secretary-General spoke at the event, sharing her vision for the role of UN Secretary-General with audience. More than 100 people attended the conversation.
The conversation was organized by Campaign to Elect a Woman Secretary-General of the United Nations (WomanSG), whose mission is to “advocate for a women as the next Secretary-General and make the selection of a woman inevitable.” Campaign Chair, Dr. Jean Krasno, kick-offed the conversation with a brief introduction of Irina Bokova, followed by a thirty-minute speech presented by Ms. Bokova. She believes that she can build on her success as the Director-General of UNESCO and is capable to become the next Secretary-General of the United Nations after Ban Ki-moon steps down. She also answered questions regarding to the mission of UN Secretary-General and other relevant UN affairs.
WPTV‘s special correspondent Liangliang Weng was invited to the conversation and interviewed Irina Bokova right before the conversation.
